CONGRATS to Atlanta’s own Saycon Sengbloh! The Broadway actress will be appearing on tonight’s episode of ABC’s “Scandal.” According to BlackFilm.com, Sengbloh will be starring as Angela Webster in the next three episodes.

Sengbloh began performing as a teen in plays and musicals at Atlanta’s acclaimed Tri Cities School of the Visual and Performing Arts. An alumnus of the famed Freddie Hendricks Youth Ensemble of Atlanta, Sengbloh attended Agnes Scott College in Decatur, GA and appeared in Tyler Perry‘s first musical, “I Know I’ve Been Changed.” She would later originate the role of Nettie in Atlanta’s Alliance Theatre presentation of “The Color Purple Musical.”

Since that time, Sengbloh has been a woman in demand. She starred in the original Broadway musical, “FELA” as well as the Broadway revival of “Hair” and as legendary performer, Martha Reeves in “Motown The Musical.” She is the first African American actress to perform the role of Elphaba (the Wicked Witch of the West) as a standby in “Wicked. ” Sengbloh was most recently seen alongside Lupita Nyong’o in Danai Gurira‘s “ECLIPSED,” for which she received a Tony nomination.

“I’ve been entertaining people since I was a kid doing plays and musicals, then television, commercials, industrials, you name it!”

Needless to say, Saycon Sengbloh is one bad sistah and I am so proud of her accomplishments. Check out more first look images of her in tonight’s episode.
