“Find a way or make one…” Clark Atlanta University motto
On this Sunday’s edition of “Donnie After Dark,” Rapper, actor and activist David Banner reveals to Donnie Simpson that he actually recorded his first album from his car!
“I went and bought a converter from Wal-Mart and literally turned my passenger seat into a studio,” said Banner. “So when you hear my first album that went gold, if you listen to the interludes, you can hear the cars passing by ‘cause I literally had a microphone in between my legs while I was driving!”
Banner credits himself as one of the first entrepreneurs to run an online store and he would literally ship his own records in Mississippi, Alabama and Tennessee. He began his music career as a member of the rap duo, Crooked Lettaz, before independently launching his first solo album in 2000 titled, Them Firewater Boyz, Vol. 1. Way to hustle!
Catch the full David Banner interview along with Lil Duval and V. Bozeman on “Donnie After Dark” this Sunday at 11 p.m. ET on TV One!
