DEADLINE is reporting that Broadway actress and one of my favorite TV and film stars Valerie Pettiford is joining BET’s highly rated series “Being Mary Jane.” She will play Ronda Sales, a veteran news anchor at Great Day USA and Mary Jane’s idol.

Also joining season four is “Birth of a Nation” star Chiké Okonkwo, who will portray Lee Truitt, a British comedian who will test Mary Jane’s notions about who or what she needs in her life. Finally, Ashton Holmes is joining the show as Garrett Keswick, a producer and showrunner for Great Day USA.  All three actors will have recurring roles on the one-hour drama that is now being executive produced by Will Packer and Erika Shelton Kodish.

“Being Mary Jane” follows Gabrielle Union as an Atlanta news anchor who is trying to balance family, life and love. It also stars Richard Roundtree, Margaret Avery, Richard Brooks, BJ Britt, Raven Goodwin, Lisa Vidal and Michael Ealy.

The new season is currently being shot in Atlanta, GA.

Stay tuned…
