Students from Clark Atlanta University were recently treated to a sneak peek of the highly anticipated Netflix series “Luke Cage.” The show, which is premieres September 30, stars Mike Colter as the Marvel Comic book character that escapes prison to become a superhero for hire. The series also features Alfre Woodard, Theo Rossi, Frankie Faison, Darius Kaleb, Erick LaRay Harvey and Mahershala Ali.
The HBCU Tour event featured a few snippets from the film as well as Q&A session with A Tribe Called Quest star Ali Shaheed Muhammed, who serves as the show’s composer, Cheo Hodari Coker, who is the showrunner, producer and creator and Adrian Younge, who also serves as one of the series composers. The event was moderated by my friend and cultural curator, Leatrice Ellzy. Other campuses included on the tour are North Carolina A&T on 9/16; Morgan State University on 9/29 and Howard University on 9/30, the day of the show’s release.
