TLC hosted a press luncheon this week at the W Midtown to preview their first-ever scripted series, “Tyler Perry’s Too Close to Home.”

Perry, who is the creator/director/writer  of the show, made a surprise appearance at the standing-room-only event. Also in attendance were the cast members, Danielle Savre (“Bring It On: All or Nothing”), Brock O’Hurn (“Tyler Perry’s Boo! A Madea Halloween”), Kelly Sullivan (“The Young and the Restless”) Ashley Love-Mills (“Nashville”), newcomer Annie Thrash and Alpha Everette Trivet (“Drop Dead Diva”). Tyler Perry Studios executives Ozzie Areu (President), Will Areu (Senior Vice President) and Mark E. Swinton (Producer) were also on hand to present the show.

The event included lunch (with special TLC-branded cupcakes by Georgetown Cupcakes), a full episode screening, Q&A and select 1:1 interviews. Additionally, attendees walked away with show-themed pie plates as a parting gift from TLC.

“Too Close to Home” is an 8-episode drama that tells the story of a young woman who escaped her working class upbringing to discover unparalleled success in the fast-paced D.C. political circuit. The show debuts Monday, August 22 at 9PM ET/PT for a two-hour premiere.
