OWN renews ‘Welcome to Sweetie Pie’s,’ ‘For Peete’s Sake’ & adds ‘The Book of John’

Congrats to the casts of the reality series “Welcome to Sweetie Pie’s” and “For Peete’s Sake.’ Additional episodes of both shows have been ordered by the Oprah Winfrey Network (OWN) and will continue to be a part of its hugely popular Saturday night lineup.

According to the press release, eight episodes have been ordered for the Holly Robinson Peete series “For Peete’s Sake” and 13-episodes for Miss Robbie Montgomery‘s family series “Welcome to Sweetie Pie’s.” The network has also ordered a new eight-episode series tentatively titled “The Book of John” which based on the life of Joel Osteen‘s associate pastor John Gray.

“Pastor Gray’s unique blend of humor and heart will make for a great series,” said Erik Logan, president, OWN.”  “We are excited for him to join our Saturday night family and thrilled to order new episodes from the Peetes and Sweetie Pie’s.”

OWN is consistently a top network for African-American women on Saturday night.  “Welcome to Sweetie Pie’s” is the most-watched docu-series in OWN history and during its most recent season was Saturday night’s #1 original cable series among African-American women.  During its first season “For Peete’s Sake” was Saturday night’s #1 original cable series among African-American women.
