The “Queen of Hip Hop Soul” Mary J. Blige is coming to prime time. The Grammy winning-songbird will star in the new season of ABC’s “How to Get Away with Murder.” Reportedly, Blige’s role has not been revealed and the details are being kept under wraps. RC will try to get the 411 on this as details of the season are revealed. Broadway legend Jennifer Holliday is returning to the Great White Way after a 15 year absence as the sassy, sanging temptress ‘Shug Avery’ in the musical version of “The Color Purple.” The versatile singer and actress is replacing Heather Headley beginning October 4. Holliday is best known for her role as ‘Effie White’ in the original version of the smash hit musical “Dreamgirls” and is a Tony winning superstar. Hip Hop performer and actress Teyana Taylor has been offered a role on VH1’s upcoming series “The Breaks.” The 25-year-old entertainer, who broke the internet on Sunday night after her sexy performance in Kanye West’s video at the VMA’s, will star alongside Mack Wilds, Wood Harris and others when the show premieres in January 2017. “The Breaks” follows three young friends fulfilling their hip hop dreams in New York City in 1990 and is inspired by the book—The Big Payback. Taylor will also appear on the network’s new “Hip Hop Squares.” [S&A]
