Oprah Winfrey appears to be really focused on her acting career these days. Not only does the media maven have a reoccurring role on the OWN hit series “Greenleaf” but she’s also starring in the film adaptation of the book, “The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks” for HBO.
Now she is about to take on the role of ‘Mrs. Which’ in a Disney adaptation of the classic children’s book, “A Wrinkle in Time.” According to THR, Winfrey is teaming up with her former “Selma” director Ava DuVernay for the film that centers on a young girl whose scientist father disappears and is helped by three peculiar beings, her brother and her friend. ‘Mrs. Which’ is one of the supernatural beings who helps the children make their way through the universe. Wrinkle is based on the 1963 book by Madelein L’Engle. “Frozen” writer and co-director Jennifer Lee will write the updated version.
DuVernay and Winfrey are also working together on the OWN original series “Queen Sugar” which is based on the best-selling book of the same name. It premieres on September 6.
