As many of you know, I recently served as a media partner for this year’s #FORDATL Summer Event, ‘The Art of the Drive.” As a partner, it was my job to promote the event’s ambassadors and their amazing careers. Unfortunately, due to her extremely busy schedule, I wasn’t able to spotlight emerging fashion designer Yvonne Ghyselinck Pearson until now. She is the creator and owner of Mélange Mode, a clothing line that incorporates African fabrics with European fashion. Check out my one-one-one interview with her as we dish about Ford, fashion and going further!

How did it feel to be a Ford ambassador this year?

OMG what an honor! I am so happy to represent such a trail blazing car company, who is continuously striving towards new car technology, design, and family oriented vehicles, which is important for me as a mother of four children.

How has Ford played a role in your success?

Ford allowed me to gain more exposure as an emerging fashion designer in Atlanta. Their recognizable brand helped me discover new clients and more people of influence.

africa blueWhat are some Fashion trends you love and hate?

I hate matching. I truly love when fashion is simply an expression of who you are.

What’s hot right now in fashion?

African prints, of course :).

Who are your fashion icons?

I am a big fan of Karen Miller, Stella jeans and Victoria Beckham.

How have you gone further in your career?

I started designing as a hobby and turned my modern African print fashion line into a full time job.

What advice would you give to someone looking to take their career to the next level?

“Just get started. We often wait for everything to be perfect to start something we are truly passionate about. But nothing is ever perfect. I strongly believe that every opportunity unfolds itself when you are just willing to ‘go further'”.
