A new season of Bounce TV’s hugely popular family comedy, “In the Cut” airs TONIGHT beginning at 9 p.m. EST. The series features celebrated TV and film stars Dorien Wilson, John Marshall Jones, Ken Lawson along with the show’s newest edition, Kelita Smith.

“In the Cut” follows Jay (Wilson), a barbershop owner who is recently reunited with his 31-year-old son that he never knew named Kenny (Lawson).  Together, they are learning what it means to be adult men: living, working and learning alongside one another. Close quarters, coupled with wisecracking employees, know-it-all neighbors and complicated love interests make for close shaves and good times. Jones returns as Jay’s BFF Smitty and Smith plays Sheryl, the new co-owner of the beauty salon next door that Jay has a crush on.

I had a chance to chat recently with the actors about the new season and Smith was super excited about joining the cast. For her, it was another opportunity to work with her friend and show creator, Bentley Kyle Evans and a chance to return to comedy.

“When Bentley called and asked if I could do the show a few years ago, I was working on a zombie show and I wasn’t able to do it. So, this time when it came back around, I absolutely said, ‘I would do it.’ I’ve worked with Dorien. I’ve not worked with JJ [John Marshall Jones] before which is awesome. Their chemistry is totally, totally, totally brilliant and I worked with Kenny on ‘The Parkers.’ We are definitely familiar with one another and it gives me a chance to play comedy again.”

When asked what can fans expect this new season, Wilson promised more guest star appearances and deeper character development.

“The funny is definitely there along with some very touching moments that viewers are going to be surprised with. We have incredible guest stars this year because people are really picking up on the show and want to be a part of it. So that’s been a real treat for us as well. The fact that our characters are growing and we’re flushing out some of the relationships even more. You were introduced to our characters the first season, now you’re getting into the meat and the soul of these people. Also, the writers are actually writing not just for our characters but they know what our strengths are as actors individually,” said Wilson.
