BET Networks released information this week about it’s new fall lineup and one show in particular that immediately caught my attention is “Hustle & Blow.” It is an unscripted series that revolves around Salon Ramsey, a very well known hair and beauty establishment in Atlanta that I attend on a weekly basis to get my haircut by celebrity barber—Tony Ford. The show premieres Tuesday October 11 at 10 p.m. EST.
Hustle & Blow (Working Title) is what goes down every day at Salon Ramsey, Atlanta’s biggest, baddest, one-stop beauty shop. Started by Nas’ go-to barber, Ramsey, this urban empire spans 5 locations and houses over 100 employees including hair stylists, nail technicians, barbers and tattoo artists. At the flagship location, Salon Ramsey is the hotspot for Atlanta’s most demanding customers including celebrities, actresses, rappers, and athletes who come through the doors for every kind of service. But the competition for clients can cause best friends to turn into fierce enemies in a matter of seconds. The outrageous and talented staff sees each other more than they see their own families at this 24-hour shop, so anything can happen and it always does.
I remember Ramsey telling me a few years ago that his salons were going to be featured on a reality show but he didn’t reveal the network. I’m not sure if my barber will be appearing on the show but his celebrity clients over the years have included R&B singer August Alsina, Empire’s Lee Daniels, Fashion Queen’s Miss Lawrence, music producer Rodney Jerkins and gospel singer VaShawn Mitchell. Congrats to Nas, Ramsey and his entire staff. I can’t wait to see this one when it airs.
Other shows debuting on Tuesday, October 11 include “The Real Husbands of Hollywood” at 9:00 p.m. followed by “The Gary Owens Show” at 9:30 p.m. Also returning are the “BET Hip Hop Awards” in October and “The Soul Train Awards” in November.
Stay tuned…
