Congrats to Grammy winning music diva Toni Braxton! Not only did she perform to a sold-out Fox Theatre last night in Atlanta, GA but she received both county and city wide proclamations declaring June 2nd as “Toni Braxton Day.” She also received the city’s coveted Phoenix Award, which is the highest honor given to any citizen.
The awards were presented on stage to the “Unbreak My Heart singer by Fulton County Chairman John Eaves, Atlanta City Council President Ceasar Mitchell and City Councilman Kwanza Hall respectively.
Braxton was also joined in concert by all of her sisters—Trina, Towanda, Traci and Tamar Braxton, who I heard brought down the house. Other invited celebrities included iconic actress Jasmine Guy and her daughter Imani Guy Duckette, former “R&B Divas” star Angie Stone and rapper Birdman, who is rumored to be in a relationship with Toni. Braxton matriarch, Miss Evelyn was also there to witness Toni’s awards presentation.
