If you follow TVOne’s “NewOne Now” host Roland Martin and hip-hop star Snoog Dogg on social media, you’ll know that the two have been feuding over History Channel’s new adaptation of “Roots.”

It all started when Snoop released a video on Monday (Memorial Day) urging his fans to boycott “Roots” simply because he was tired of Hollywood creating such films and television shows as “12 years a Slave,” “Roots” and “Underground” that glorify slavery.

“They going to just to keep beating that sh*t into our heads about how they did us, huh?””I ain’t watching that sh*t, and I advise you motherf-—ers as real n— like myself; f— them television shows! Let’s create our own sh*t based on today, how we live and how we inspire people today. Black is what’s real. F— that old shit.”

Roland then responded to Snoop’s comments during his live news program and criticized the rapper for not doing his part in supporting African-American directors and positive movie projects.

“And I would say to Snoop! Why don’t you stop smoking weed and actually bother to call Will Packer or Ava DuVernay or call Spike Lee or the countless African-Americans out there who are trying to make those films and looking for folks like you who go put their money where their mouth is as opposed to their money on some good weed…”

Snoop later responded to Roland’s comments in another video by slamming the political commentator and saying that “he will let his work speak for himself.”
