VH1 will celebrate all of the “Mama Nems” this Mother’s Day in a first-of-its-kind TV special, “Dear Mama,” hosted by “black-ish” star Anthony Anderson. The one-hour salute will air on Sunday, May 8 at 9 p.m. EST.
According to the show’s press release, “Dear Mama” will feature tributes from Anderson to his mother Doris Hancox, Queen Latifah to her mother Rita Bowman as well as the Smith kids—Jaden, Trey and Willow—as they celebrate Jada Pinkett-Smith. The premise of the show is to feature A-list celebrities and their mothers with heartfelt, jaw-dropping tributes to the women who were very instrumental in their success. Additional honorees will be announced in the weeks to come.
“We are excited to shine the spotlight on the influential and inspiring women behind some of our favorite celebrities, their Moms,” said Amy Doyle, EVP/Deputy General Manager, VH1. Our ’Dear Mama’ special event gives our famous friends the stage to salute and thank their moms with their own tributes full of surprises, laughter and love.”
“Dear Mama” will be taped on Tuesday, May 3rd at St. Bart’s Church in New York.
Stay tuned…
