Two-time Grammy nominated-singer Karyn White enjoyed major success as in-demand performer during the 80’s and early 90’s. She stayed on the charts with such hits as “The Way You Love Me,” “Romantic,” and “Secret Rendezvous.” Then she stepped away from show business to raise a family with then-husband Terry Lewis and ran a successful real estate company during the late 90’s and into the 2000’s.
Now R&B’s original “Superwoman” is back on the scene and looking to find success as an actress in a new web series titled “Finding Forever.” The singer shared a sneak peek of the “How Stella Got Her Groove Back” inspired drama on Monday (April 25). It features White as an older woman named ‘Terri’ who finds love again with a younger man name ‘Neil’ played by Atlanta model and rising actor Travis Cure. The project is created, written, and directed by Stacey Muhammad and executive produced by Marc Lamont Hill with White also as a producer.
“I really love this character because I can relate to these insecurities, but yet you have so much wisdom as an older woman. It’s very interesting subject matter, and we’ve been getting a lot of feedback about it. Plus, people love Travis when they see him. It’s like, “Oh my God, who is this chocolate drop?” [laughs].”
White and the show’s creators are currently shopping the pilot around to networks with the hopes of getting it picked up. Is this a story you’d like to see RC fans? Let us know.
