S&A is reporting that Lee Daniels‘ “Dreamgirls” inspired drama “STAR” has been picked up by Fox. The series, which is filmed in Atlanta, focuses on three young singers who try to navigate they way through Atlanta’s cut-throat music industry.

The series features Jude Demorest, Ryan Destiny and Brittany O’Grady along with Queen Latifah and Benjamin Bratt. There will also be appearances by Lenny Kravitz and a few other familiar Atlanta-based celebrities that I can’t name right now.  Two of them have been featured on “Bravo” and the other just completed a successful run on another new hit series. “STAR” is produced by 20th Century Fox Television and executive produced by Daniels along with Tom Donaghy, Pamela Oas Williams and Effie Brown.

Also given the go by Fox is “24: Legacy.”  This is a spin-off of the hugely popular “24” and stars “Straight Outta Compton” actor Corey Hawkins as war hero Eric Carter, who returns to the U.S. , only to find trouble following him back. He seeks help from Rebecca Ingram, played by Miranda Otto, who is the former head of the now Counter Terrorist Unit in L.A. They both team up to try and stop the largest terrorist attack on American soil. The series also stars Jimmy Smits.

Congrats and stay tuned…
