LaDonna Adrian Gaines better known as Donna Summer rose to fame during the 70’s and became the “Queen of Disco” with such hits as “Bad Girls,” “Hot Stuff,” “MacArthur’s Park,” “I Feel Love,” and “On the Radio.” While she never appeared on Broadway, Summer did participate in German productions of “Hair,” “Godspell,” “Porgy and Bess” and “Show Boat.” She also appeared in the 1978 cult classic film “Thank God It’s Friday” where she performed what would be become her iconic hit record “Last Dance.”
Before Summer died of lung cancer in 2012, she had been working on her own biographical musical which she titled “Ordinary Girl.” The show was going to feature some of her classics as well as some original songs including “My Life,” which she performed during her 1999 VH1 special “Donna Summer – Live & More Encore.”
