ESPN’s Bomani Jones stopped by Clark Atlanta University Friday afternoon to chat with mass media arts students about his career in sports broadcasting. The popular host of the network’s “The Right Time with Bomani Jones” earned a degree in economics while attending the school followed by a master’s in politics, economics and business from Claremont Graduate University and a master’s in economics from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
Jones talked candidly about how he started in sports journalism and how attending an HBCU played an integral role in shaping his personal beliefs and philosophies. The 35-year-old also talked about the important role CAU played in him becoming a successful journalist and encouraged the mostly male audience to learn all that they can “in and outside” of the classroom before graduating. He also dished about his job as music critic and radio host as well as hip-hop and politics.
In addition to his media career, Jones has also served as adjunct professor at Duke and Elon Universities. Check out a few more pics below:
