Singer, actress, and Broadway star Vanessa Williams will play the lead in Star Jones‘ upcoming VH1 scripted series “Satan’s Sisters.” The one-hour program is centered on five female co-hosts of a popular daily TV talk show, ‘The Lunch Hour,’ and the fireworks that ensue each weekday when they discuss life, love, family, politics, and gossip. Williams will portray Maxine Robinson and is being described as “a formidable, powerful, and decisive woman, who fears she’s being put out to pasture.” No other casting has been announced. “RACE” star Stephan James has been cast opposite Sanaa Lathan in Gina Prince-Bythewood‘s upcoming FOX project titled, “Shots Fired.” The event series explores racial tension and police shooting. The Canadian born actor will play a prosecutor who helps Lathan, an expert investigator. The pair must navigate the media attention, public debate and the social unrest that comes with such volatile cases, as they seek justice before the divided town erupts. [VARIETY]
