Check out photos from the recent screening of “Barbershop: The Next Cut.” It took place over the President’s Day Weekend at the London Hotel in West Hollywood and featured two of the film’s co-stars Common and Ice Cube.
Alongside the co-stars were comedian Deon Cole (who appears as “Dante” in the film), as well as reality TV personalities Jennifer Williams (TV One’s “Next 15”) and Mimi Faust (Vh1’s “Love and Hip Hop Atlanta). Also in attendance was Straight Outta Compton‘s Neil Brown, Jr. (DJ Yella) who dropped in for a few laughs alongside a few industry notables.
It’s been more than 10 years since our last appointment at Calvin’s Barbershop. Calvin (Ice Cube) and his longtime crew, including Eddie (Cedric the Entertainer), are still there, but the shop has undergone some major changes. Most noticeably, our once male-dominated sanctuary is now co-ed. The ladies bring their own flavor, drama and gossip to the shop challenging the fellas at every turn. Despite the good times and camaraderie within the shop, the surrounding community has taken a turn for the worse, forcing Calvin and our crew to come together to not only save the shop, but their neighborhood.
“Barbershop: The Next Cut” also stars Eve, Regina Hall, Nicki Minaj, Patrick Thomas, Anthony Anderson, Jaszmine Lewis, and JB Smoove. It is directed by Malcolm Lee with a screenplay by “black-ish” creator Kenya Barris and “The Neighbors” Tracy Oliver.
