Kudos to Bishop T.D. Jakes!  His one-hour talk show T. D. Jakes has been given permission to air throughout the U.S. beginning in the fall of 2016.  The show tested extremely well with audiences during August and September and will most likely return the same in daytime programming slot.

According to S&A, the secular formatted program is being produced and distributed by TEGNA and will broadcast in over 29 different of the company’s major markets including Atlanta, Cleveland, Dallas and Seattle.

As previously reported, T.D. Jakes is being described as “Dr. Phil meets Oprah Winfrey” and will cover a wide range of topics. This is also his second attempt at hosting a show. If you recall, he had a similar program on BET in 2013 titled, T.D. Jakes Presents: Mind, Body and Soul.  He has also appeared regularly on Oprah Winfrey’s Next Chapter and Oprah’s Life Class.

T.D. Jakes made headlines over the summer when former R&B Diva Angie Stone and her daughter Diamond appeared on the show to reconcile their differences. The two were involved in an altercation that resulted in the singer being arrested and jailed for knocking out her daughter’s teeth.

“It is indeed an honor for TDJ Entertainment to work with such a stellar slate of industry players like TEGNA Media, 44 Blue, EnLight and Scott Carlin whose belief in my ability to engage a broader audience with relevant and uplifting content is consistent with my years of experience at the intersections of the faith-based, entertainment and business worlds,” said Bishop Jakes in a statement. “This is an unprecedented opportunity to bring a new voice to a familiar platform. To say I am excited and challenged by this opportunity is an understatement.”

Stay tuned…
