The Recording Academy announced nominations earlier today for the 58th Annual Grammy Awards airing on February 15, 2016 at 8 p.m. on CBS.

A big congratulations goes out to hip-hop star Kendrick Lamar, who picked up 11 nods including ‘Album of the Year,’ ‘Song of the Year,’ ‘Best Music Video,’ and ‘Best Rap Song.’ Trailing behind him is The Weekend, who earned seven nominations including ‘Record of the Year,’ ‘Album of the Year,’ ‘Best R&B Song,’ and ‘Best R&B Performance.’

Other contenders include R&B vocalists Jazmine Sullivan, Andra Day and D’Angelo, who all scored three nominations while Tyrese and Charlie Wilson are up for two categories including ‘Best Traditional R&B Performance.’

Additional nominees include DrakeTamar Braxton, Nicki Minaj, Lalah Hathaway, Fetty Wap, Robert Glasper and more. Artists that were surprisingly not included amongst this year’s nominees are Janet Jackson and Jill Scott. Both released new projects earlier this year to a lot of fanfare but received no love from the Academy.

“The diversity in the creative community is what makes music a universal language, and it’s gratifying to see the vibrancy of today’s artistic landscape reflected in this year’s nominations — a testament to The Academy’s voting members,” said Neil Portnow, President/CEO of The Recording Academy. “Artists are pushing boundaries in exciting ways, making it an exceptionally strong year for music.”
