The NAACP Hollywood Bureau recently sponsored an advanced screening of John Legend‘s upcoming WGN America series Underground. The event was held at the Westwood iPic and was hosted by Robin Harrison, Ron Hassan and Tia Boyd along with Urban League Young Professionals President Michael Ferrera.
Underground star Jurnee Smollett-Bell was also in attendance and participated in a post film discussion with the project’s creator Misha Green and Entertainment Tonight co-host Nischelle Turner.
In Underground, a courageous blacksmith Noah covertly organizes a small group of his fellow slaves and pieces together a daring plan of escape across hundreds of miles to freedom. The odds of success are razor-thin for those who make it off the plantation, while the risks, dangers and obstacles multiply each step of the way.
Underground also features Aldis Hodge, Christopher Meloni, Alano Miller, Jessica de Gouw, Marc Blucas, Adina Porter, Mykelti Williamson, Amirah Vann, Johnny Ray Gill, Chris Chalk, and Reed Diamond.
