Creed stars Michael B. Jordan and Tessa Thompson stopped through Atlanta Tuesday afternoon to dedicate a special mural to Big Brothers Big Sisters of Metro Atlanta (BBBSMA). The two were also accompanied by the film’s director Ryan Coogler.
The event took place in the Mentoring Center of the Midtown facility and was attended by the organization’s President and CEO Janice McKenzie Crayton along with her staff, area mentors and their mentees and special invited press. The mural was dedicated to the program as part of the movie’s digital campaign, “I Fight For.” The mural was also designed by Shepard Fairey’s design studio, Studio Number One.
In addition to the dedication, the trio also presented a $5,000 check to Crayton in support of the BBBSMA’s myriad of mentoring programs. The Big Brothers Big Sisters of Metro Atlanta currently serves over 12 Georgia counties and reaches over 2,500 youth. Their programs range from community based mentoring to school based mentoring as well as mentoring children of prisoners and mentoring towards college. Way to GO!
Creed stars Jordan as Adonis Creed, the son of boxing legend Apollo Creed, who overcomes his tumultuous past through the help of his father’s arch rival, Rocky Balboa, played famously by Sylvester Stallone. Thompson stars as a singer and Adonis’ love interest, Bianca. The film also features Wood Harris and award-winning veteran actress Phylicia Rashad.
Creed opens nationwide on Friday, November 27. Check out more photos below:
