First Look at John Legend’s WGN Project, ‘Underground’

WGN has released some exciting new character posters for its up coming dramatic slavery thriller, Underground, that is set to air in 2016.

As previously reported, the made-for-television series centers on a group of slaves planning a daring 600-mile escape from a Georgia plantation. Along the way, they are aided by a secret abolitionist couple running a station on the Underground Railroad as they attempt to evade the people charged with bringing them back, dead or alive.

Underground features an all-star-cast including Aldis Hodge, Jurnee Smollett-Bell, Christopher Meloni, Alano Miller, Jessica de Gouw, Marc Blucas, Adina Porter, Mykelti Williamson, Amirah Vann, Johnny Ray Gill, Chris Chalk, and Reed Diamond.  I am not sure if Empire’s Jussie Smollett is still attached to the project as was mentioned in our first story. We will keep you posted on that one.

Underground  is executive produced by John Legend along with his Get Lifted partners Mike Jackson and Ty Stiklorius. Also on board to oversee the project is the series creators and writers, Misha Green and Joe Pokaski.

Additionally, Legend’s Get Lifted will also produce the project’s score, soundtrack and all music aspects of the series.

Stay tuned…
