I had the pleasure of covering Rev. Al Sharpton‘s Triumph Awards Saturday night at the historic 200 Peachtree event venue in Atlanta, GA. The star-studded ceremony, which was sponsored by Sharpton’s National Action Network, was taped before a packed house and will air on TV One Saturday, October 3 at 8 p.m. EST.

The red carpet was overflowing with press as many of the show’s awardees, performers, and presenters made their grand entrances. Celebrities in attendance included the host, Tichina Arnold and honorees Tyrese Gibson, Wanda Sykes, Rev. Joseph Lowery and Rosaline Hudnell. Presenters spotted on the carpet included Solidad O’Brien, Donnie Simpson, Syleena Johnson, Richard Lawson, Nicole Behari, Patrik Ian Polk, Darrin Henson, Danielle Nicolet, Afemo Omilami, Terri J. Vaughn and Martin Luther King III.

Performers included Chante Moore, Stokely Williams, Jazmine Sullivan, Estelle, Ledisi, Tasha Cobbs along with a special tribute by T.I. Other celebrities in attendance were Eva Marcille, Meagan Holder, Julian Walker, Karon Joseph Riley, the show’s writer, Carl Payne and musical director, The Robert Glasper Experiment.
