Atlanta’s famed Patchwerk Recording Studios celebrated its 20th Anniversary recently by hosting it 1st Annual 5k Run/Walk. The inauguaral race was titled, ‘I do Music’ and was a fundraiser for The MusiCares Foundation, the Grammy Awards organization that provides critical assistance for musicians and artists in times of need.

The race took place in Midtown Atlanta and featured a live remote hosted by Greg Street of Atlanta’s big station, V-103. According to Patchwerk Recording Studio owner, Curtis Daniel III, this is the studio’s way of giving back to a community that has been so supportive.

“I wanted to do something in Home Park, since we’ve been in the community for over 20 years. The concept of the race is “Patchwerk Recording Studios…We Run Dem Streets” because we are literally in the streets.  I wanted about 300-400 people running down the streets of Atlanta with ‘I do Music’ t-shirts on and we partnered with the Grammy organization to donate proceeds to MusicCares,” said Daniel.  “We’ve always promoted Patchwerk Recording Studios like it was an artist or a producer. We’ve done street promotions and a lot of other things outside the studio and all of our programs and products have always been different from other studios. Hosting a 5K Run/Walk was another unique way of getting the community involved.”

Patchwerk Recording Studio was born out of Patchwerk founder and former CEO/ 13 year Atlanta Falcons Offensive Tackle Bob Whitfield’s love of music. Overtime, the establishment has built a reputation for providing quality service and has hosted some of the biggest names in the music industry including Beyoncé, Ludacris, John Legend, Whitney Houston, Mariah Carey, John Legend, Trey Songz, TLC, Outkast, Usher and many more.  Following the race was an award’s ceremony, brunch, and tour of the studio.
