André Benjamin joins ABC’s ‘American Crime’

Hip-Hop star André Benjamin has just booked an acting gig on the second season of John Ridley’s new ABC drama, American Crime. According to Deadline, the Grammy winning-rapper turned actor will star as Michael Lacroix, a prominent husband and architect whose son has become entangled in a private school scandal. The show also stars acting veteran Regina King and was a “must watch” program last season.

“Personally, I couldn’t be more excited than to work again with André,” said Ridley in a statement. “He is an amazing individual, a true artist, and All is by My Side is one of the reasons I was given the reins on American Crime. Folks at ABC were absolutely moved by André’s performance in the film, and by the overall language of cinema we used in telling the story. It’s fair to say American Crime might not exist were it not for our previous collaboration.”

This is not the first time these two have worked together. If you recall, Ridley directed André in the Jimi Hendrix biopic, All Is By My Side.

RC is looking forward to seeing André on the small screen this new season.

Stay tuned…
