The Youth Ensemble of Atlanta (YEA), one of Atlanta’s premiere arts organizations for young people, will celebrate its 25th Anniversary this year with a tribute to television and film actress Wendy Raquel Robinson. The event will take place on Saturday, August 8 at Georgia State’s Rialto Center for the Arts.
“A Taste of Y-E-A” is one of the organization’s signature events of the summer and features a VIP reception, silent auction, an honoree’s ceremony, a thrilling performance by YEA and a dessert reception. YEA has represented Atlanta as a cultural ambassador in such international locales as Europe, South Africa and China.
Robinson will be honored for her unforgettable roles on such hit comedy series at The Steve Harvey Show and BET’s The Game. A proud graduate of Howard University, Robinson will also be recognized for her philanthropic efforts as the Executive Director of the Amazing Grace Conservatory, a performing arts school for under-served youth in Los Angeles.
Past gala honorees have included Ruby Dee, Georgia Allen, Kim Fields, Lynn Whitfield and Boris Kodjoe & Nicole Ari Parker, among others.
I’ve had the pleasure of attending this every year and the kids never disappoint. The honorees are truly awe-inspired by their talent and are tickled by their detailed tributes. It’s a performance you don’t want to miss!
