R&B vocalist and noted songwriter Vivian Green is in a good space right now. The Philadelphia native is gearing up to release her fifth studio project, VIVID, which by her accounts is more that just an album title but a bold declaration of who she is today as a woman and artist.

The 36-year-old, who was once on an “emotional rollercoaster,” is now on more stable ground and eager to bring fans with her on this higher plateau. With a new label (Kwamé’s Make Noise Recording) representing her and a fresh perspective, Green is determined to make 2015 her best year yet.

I had the pleasure of the hearing a few selections from the CD Thursday night during an intimate concert and conversation at Atlanta’s historic Patchwerk Studios. I along with other invited press were given exclusive access to the star and her album’s producer, Kwamé.

We were then treated to a special performance featuring her new songs “Broken” and “Disrespectful.” She also took us back to the beginning with a snippet of “Emotional Rollercoaster” and ended her set with the Frankie Beverly & Maze sampled hit single, “Get Right Back to My Baby.”

“It’s my first uptempo single ever! So, it’s very different but in a really good way because I’m getting play from DJ’s that I never got before,” said Green. “I mean, no one is really playing ballads in the afternoon. So, these are relationships I didn’t have before but now DJ’s are checking for me!” (LOL)

The project also includes an ole school duet with Raheem DeVaughn titled, “All I Want is You,” a high-energy mix titled, “Work” and a Motown-infused single, called “1-2-3.”  After releasing VIVID, Green is going right back into the studio to work on an album of jazz standards.  Check out more photos from the event and her hot performance of “Get Right Back to My Back Baby” below:
