Pop superstar, actor, and philanthropist, Usher Raymond hosted a special “United to Ignite” luncheon this week for his New Look Foundation. The non-profit organization celebrated its 16th Anniversary at the beautiful, St. Regis Hotel in Atlanta and was emceed by Usher’s good friend Ludacris and one of his emerging youth leaders, Tony M. Betton Jr.
The luncheon featured live musical and dance performances as well as a silent auction and awards ceremony. It was also an opportunity for New Look corporate supporters, sponsors and community influencers to come together and fellowship with the student leaders, whose efforts have transformed the lives of underserved young people around the globe.
“This organization has made an impact on thousands of youth worldwide,” said Usher Raymond IV. “Through mentorship and continued support, New Look empowers students to pursue their dreams. Today is about celebrating the accomplishments of our award winners who work tirelessly to improve their community, find their spark and make a difference. Without them, Usher’s New Look would not be the strong organization it is today.”
Each year, New Look honors individuals, organizations and corporations that are creatively empowering youth as leaders and change agents around the world. This year’s honorees included Ludacris and his Ludacris Foundation; Casey Cagle, Lt. Governor of Georgia; Michele Lai, founder of Kids 4 Kids; and Elizabeth Williams, cofounder of Books IV Bonding. Also present at the luncheon was Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed, Ludacris’ wife, Eudoxie and Usher’s fiance, Grace Miguel.
The 2015 United to Ignite Luncheon is presented by Ford Motor Company Fund and sponsors include Arby’s, WNBA Atlanta Dream, Bank of America, BET Networks, FedEx, General Electric, Georgia Power Company, The Home Depot, MGM Resorts International, PayPal, Sony Records, Southwest Airlines, Travelers and many more.
