WEtv is expanding its reality programming this fall with a brand new show based on the seeds of hip hop and R&B pioneers.
Growing Up Hip Hop is an hour-long docu-series that will follow the lives of rap royalty including Romeo Miller (son of Master P), Angela Simmons (daughter of Rev. Run and niece of Russell Simmons), Damon ‘Boogie’ Dash (son of Damon Dash), Kristina DeBarge (daughter of James DeBarge), Egypt Criss (daugther of Sandra ‘Pepa’ Denton and Trench from Naughty By Nature) and TJ Mizell (son of the Late Run DMC).
“Hip-hop is a hugely popular music genre, but beyond the songs it has become a lifestyle and has influenced a generation of young people,” said Marc Juris, WE TV’s president. “‘Growing Up Hip Hop’ profiles what it’s like to be raised by hip-hop legends, living in their shadow while trying to balance success and independence.”
Romeo Miller and Angela Simmons will also serve as producers for the show along with Master P and Datari Turner.
