Congratulations to ballet diva Misty Copeland!

The 32-year-old from Kansas City, made history today becoming the first African-American female promoted to the role of principal dancer at the American Ballet Theatre (ABT). It’s a first in the organization’s 75 year history. The exciting news was announced Tuesday afternoon with a photo of Copeland along with the other principal dancers.

According to USA Today, this promotion comes on the heels of her performing as the lead in Swan Lake, one of the most important roles in a ballerina’s career. Check out Copeland’s full story below in a recent episode of 60-Minutes.
