The highly anticipated Netflix documentary, What Happened, Miss Simone? debuts on Friday, June 26 and I can’t wait to see it. In celebration of the film, RCA is releasing a soundtrack, “Nina Revisited: A Tribute to Nina Simone” on July 10 which features Lauryn Hill, Alice Smith, Common, Gregory Porter, Lalah Hathaway, Mary J. Blige, Lisa Simone, Grace, Jazmine Sullivan and Usher.
As previously mentioned, What Happened, Miss Simone? includes never-before-heard recordings and rare archival footage together with Nina’s most memorable songs. Recorded over the course of 3 decades, Nina tells her life story to various interviewers and would-be biographers. The film comes from Academy Award® nominated director/producer, Liz Garbus and features cameos by those who knew here best.
