Award-winning singers Lauryn Hill and Jazmine Sullivan payed special tribute to the High Priestess of Soul, Nina Simone, Monday night following a screening of the Netfilx documentary, What Happened Miss Simone?  The event took place at Harlem’s famed Apollo Theatre.

According to BET, Hill performed Simone’s signature tunes, “Ne Me Quitte Pas” and my personal favorite, “Black Is the Color of My True Love’s Hair.” Hill then graciously shared the mic with Sullivan, who covered the Simone classic, “Baltimore.”

What Happened, Miss Simone?  features never-before-heard recordings and rare archival footage together with Nina’s most memorable songs. Recorded over the course of 3 decades, Nina tells her life story to various interviewers and would-be biographers. The film comes from Academy Award® nominated director/producer, Liz Garbus and features cameo by those who knew here best including her daughter, Lisa Simone Kelly.

There is also a planned tribute album featuring Mary J. Blige, Usher, Robert Glasper and more. What Happened, Miss Simone? premieres on Netflix Friday, June 26.  Check out the trailer below:
