I had the pleasure of seeing Grammy winning singer-songwriter and music royale, Natalie Cole last night in concert at the Cobb Energy Centre in Atlanta, GA. The 65-year-old entertainer was there as part of Jazz 91.9 WCLK’s 41st Anniversary and delivered an “unforgettable” evening of jazz, R&B and gospel music.
Ms.Cole, who is best known for her sexy, breathy vocals, performed such standard as “Fever,” “A Tisket A Tasket,” “Smile,” “Route 66,” and “Summertime.” She also took us down memory lane with her signature tune, “Unforgettable” which she sang with her late father and music legend, Nat King Cole via video. She closed out her 90-minute set with her soul-stirring classic hits like “Inseperable,” “I’m Catching Hell” and “This Will Be.” She was later joined by a local choir for a rousing version of “Thank You” (Lord For All You’ve Done for Me), which including an impromptu praise dance and shout.
Ms. Cole’s tour continues this summer with stops in New York on June 28, Washington, PA on July 18 and Asheville, NC on Aug. 7. Click here for more information and tickets.
