Judge Glenda A. Hatchett was all smiles last night for the grand opening of her new Atlanta based law firm, The Hatchett Firm. The former daytime television star of Judge Hatchett, will specialize in catastrophic accidents, wrongful deaths, medical malpractice, reputational & marketing risks and dangerous drugs liability. The firm will also serve as a settlement consultant and strategist for national law firms as well.

“I think that it’s important that we have a national law firm and one with high standards.  I’m tired of us getting the short end and calling a number because we hear a jingle or see a billboard and think that’s the answer but I know we can do better,” says Hatchett.  “I think that because people have seen me over the years through the show, I can help them get cases resolves. I am what you call a lawyers’ lawyer.  I can do it in Atlanta, DC, Seattle, Miami, it doesn’t matter.  People know me and trust me and I am going to leverage that in cases that I’m passionate about.”

A number of Atlanta notables came out to support Hatchett including Ambassador and Mrs. Andrew Young; noted businessmen Thomas W. Dortch, Jr.; Dr. Robert Wright and Mack Wilbourn.  Real Housewives of Atlanta  star and attorney, Phaedra Parks, was also in attendance along with Married to Medicine’s Mariah Huq and Hell’s Kitchen star Chef Jason Ellis, who catered the event. Atlanta City Councilman, Kwanza Hall and noted Atlanta Funeral Home Director, Willie A. Watkins were also spotted in the crowd.

The Hatchett Firm is located on the 26th floor of Atlanta’s One Ninety One Peachtree Tower in the heart of downtown. Her office features breathtaking views of the city as well as her alma mater, Clark College, which is now Clark Atlanta University. For her, seeing these landmarks are “full circle moments” considering her parents met there in graduate school and she grew up in the neighborhood. In addition to that, Hatchett’s office also includes a photo of her parents as well as the first lamps she received from them when she became a judge. They’re items that hold a lot of sentimental value. “These lamps are so important and precious to me,” says Hatchett. “These lamps along with the photo of my parents go everywhere I go and is a constant reminder of my enormous blessing.”

Observing History

The office also boast a beautiful, legacy wall of photos featuring historic legal giants like Supreme Court Justice Thurgood Marshall; former Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity President and noted Civil Rights Attorney, Belford V. Lawson; and Georgia’s own, Judge Horace Ward. “It was very important for me to do the legacy wall as a tribute to Civil Rights legal legends, primarily because I stand on their shoulders. I am a beneficiary of a dream that was articulated by Dr. Martin Luther King Jr, but was really born in the hearts of our ancestors,” says Hatchett.
