Congratulations to Motown legend and Grammy-winning international recording superstar, Gladys Knight. She will be honored next week by the state of Georgia with a highway dedication.

According to the press release, Sen. Donzella James (D-Atlanta) will hold a press conference featuring Knight on Tuesday, June 9 at 9 a.m. A celebratory ceremony will be held immediately following the press conference in the Senate Chamber where Sen. James and other elected officials will highlight Ms. Knight’s many achievements including her lasting impact on the state of Georgia.

Gladys Knight Highway will run from Peachtree Street to 14th Street along State Route 9 in Fulton County. Ms. Knight is a recording artist, songwriter, businesswoman, humanitarian and author. Her group, Gladys Knight & The Pips are known for hits such as “I Heard It through the Grapevine” and “Midnight Train to Georgia.” She has been awarded numerous awards throughout her career, including 7 Grammy Awards, music’s highest honor.
