Here’s the latest news from the Great White Way…
Bay Street Theater and Dreamworks are teaming up for a musical adaptation of the Disney film, The Prince of Egypt. The show will feature the music and lyrics of Stephen Schwartz and a book by Philip LaZebnik. The Prince of Egypt tells the story of the classic tale of Moses’ life — from his beginnings as an Egyptian prince to discovering his God-given task of guiding the enslaved children of Israel to the promised land. Reportedly, there will be a premiere concert reading on July 11 featuring Tony-nominated actor and “Scandal” star, Norm Lewis and Drama Desk nominee, Aaron Lazar. The reading is part of the Bay Street’s 24th Annual Summer Gala. “The Prince of Egypt” features the beloved tune, “When You Believe” performed by Mariah Carey and the late Whitney Houston.
