Tony winning Broadway actress Patina Miller is joining the cast for the musical adaptation of The Prince of Egypt. As previously reported, the concert reading is part of the Bay Street Theater’s 24th Annual Summer Gala. Miller will be playing the role of Tzipporah alongside her Pippin co-star Matthew James Thomas, who will portray Moses. Rounding out the cast is Norm Lewis, Aaron Lazar, Stephen Bogardus, Julia Murney, Kyle Barisich, John Treacy Egan, Ryan Knowles, Joanna Howard, Julia Motyka, and Anna Schiavoni. The Prince of Egypt is based on the popular biblical story of Moses and features the beloved song, “When You Believe” performed by Mariah Carey and the late Whitney Houston. [BROADWAYWORLD]
Versatile stage and film actor, Taye Diggs is returning to Broadway this summer as the lead in the Tony winning-musical, Hedwig and the Angry Inch. The Murder in the First actor is trading in his boots for a pair of pumps as the transgendered singer who fronts a rockband from East Berlin. Diggs 12 week engagement begins July 22. “Hedwig is the role of a lifetime. I’m looking forward to being challenged performance-wise on many levels, as well as being humbled by the musical’s social implications. I also like wearing nail polish,” says Diggs to PEOPLE.
