Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson proves once again why he is one of Hollywood’s most popular action movie stars. Just this week, he broke a Guinness World Record by taking the most “selfies” during the London premiere of his newest film “San Andreas.”  Can you believe he managed to take 105 in 3 minutes?

Speaking of his newest film “San Andreas,” I had a chance to attend a special sneak preview this week with other Atlanta press and I must say it is quite a “spectacle.” It stars Johnson as Ray, a rescue helicopter pilot who ends up saving his soon-to-be ex-wife, Emma when the San Andreas fault gives in and Los Angeles experiences a massive earthquake. Along the way, Ray and Emma survive a helicopter crash, a plane crash, a tsunami and other “end of the world” scenarios in order to reach their daughter Blake, who is trapped in San Francisco.

While, I’ve never experienced a real earthquake before, “San Andreas” provided me with enough jolts and heart-pounding moments to know that I never want to anyway. Yes, the film is comprised of a lot of special effects and computer generated images but what isn’t these days. It’s why we go to the movies right? To try and figure out how they make it look so real.  I would also highly recommend not taking children under 13 years of age or elderly family members due to the intensity of the action. Yes, even I flinched during a few scenes, while trying to take in what  I was seeing through my 3-D lens. Overall, “San Andreas” is a little dose of reality, mixed with loads of fantasy and a hokey love story all wrapped in one. I mean, did you think The Rock would appear in this movie and not be the shining hero at the end who gets the girl?

Lastly, I would imagine that “San Andreas” will fall somewhere in the top 30 natural disaster movies of all time like “2012,” “Dante’s Peak” and “The Perfect Storm” considering The Rock’s box office appeal and the film’s amazing special effects.
