Jasmine Guy attends Atlanta Premiere of Short Film ‘Ir/Reconcilable’ [PHOTOS]

I had the distinct pleasure Sunday night of attending the intimate premiere of Blue Sky Clouds’ Short Film, “Ir/Reconcilable.” The 20-minute movie stars triple-threat entertainer, Jasmine Guy as drug abuser Robye Porter, who musters the courage to face her family on Thanksgiving Day. Newly sober Robye has struggled through rehab and cancer alone. Though she’s been a repeat offender of emotional injury, Robye’s homecoming leads us to wonder if there is space for the sobriety of forgiveness.”

Joining Guy in this heart-felt production is an all-star cast of Atlanta stage and television performers including Brandon J. Dirden, Crystal Fox, Enoch King, Cynthia D. Barker, Margueritte Hannah, Geoffrey Williams and Danielle Deadwyler. Veteran actress, Crystal Fox from “Tyler Perry’s The Have and the Have Nots” also stars along with legendary actor and activist, Dick Gregory.  The film was written and directed by screenwriter and playwright, Gabrielle Fulton and co-produced by her sister and actress Danielle Deadwyler.

After the screening, the stars and some of the production crew including the make-up artists talked about their experience shooting the film and answered questions from the audience. Fulton hopes the 2014 American Black Film Festival entry, will attract the attention of investors so that she can produce a full length version of the film. From the reaction of last night’s crowd, who was in tears by the end of the story, I don’t think she will have any problems completing that task.
