Fashion incubator Harlem’s Fashion Row created Harlem’s Fashion Row University (HFR-U) and partnered with McDonalds® USA to create the “Lovin’ Student Fashion Design Competition”, a student fashion competition for students attending historically black colleges and universities.

This year HFR-U and McDonald’s will launch their second installment of the design competition at Clark Atlanta University and will feature an up close and personal conversation with television personality, Bevy Smith. Smith will discuss HFR’s collaboration with McDonald’s, the transition from fashion editor to fashion queen, the importance of reaching out to millennials and the design competition for HBCU students.

HFR-U created this design initiative as an opportunity to inspire the next generation of diverse and talented fashion leaders from historically black colleges and universities by providing mentorship and exposure to world of fashion.

The grand prize winner will encounter the opportunity of a lifetime – a New York City photo shoot with a fashion photographer, Lunch with Bevy and a trip to New York City to experience New York Fashion Week with their design featured on limited-edition HFR signature t-shirts and hooded sweatshirts at the special HFR NYFW Shop, Brunch and Be Social event. Additionally, the winner will also attend the HFR NYFW Fashion Show.
