Indie Wire is reporting that a “Barbershop 3” may be coming to a theater soon. Reportedly, Ice Cube and Cedric the Entertainer are in talks to star in the film along with Malcolm Lee as director.
“Barbershop” is the hilarious 2002 film that featured a day in the life of a barbershop on the Southside of Chicago and starred Ice Cube, Anthony Anderson, Cedric the Entertainer, Eve, Michael Ealy, Sean Patrick Thomas, Keith David, Lahmard J. Tate, DeRay Davis and more. A sequel, “Barbershop: Back in Business” was released in 2004 with most of the main cast as well as a few new faces including Queen Latifah, Kenan Thompson and Garcelle Beauvais. The plot of the third installment has not been determined.
In other related news, Martin Lawrence revealed this week via Facebook, that he is has written a sequel to his 1996 hit, “A Think Line Between Love and Hate.” Lawrence co–wrote the screenplay along with Bentley Kyle Evans and posted a photo and caption:
“Just finished writing A Thin Line Between Love and Hate 2. Excited as a MF! #crazyderanged #comingatyou.”
If you recall, A Thin Line starred Lawrence as a slick talking, wanna be player who encounters a “fatal attraction” type relationship with Lynn Whitfield. The film also starred Regina King, Bobby Brown, Della Reese, Malinda Williams, Wendy Raquel Robinson and Stacii Jae Johnson.
