Atlanta’s Trumpet Awards Foundation is pleased to announce the 23rd Annual Trumpet Awards. The black tie ceremony takes place on Saturday, January 24 at the Cobb Energy Centre and will be televised during Black History Month on TV One, Saturday February 21.
This year’s distinguished honorees include Oscar winning entertainer, Jamie Foxx; R&B music legends, The Isley Brothers; versatile singer-model, Janelle Monáe; fashion icon Tommy Hilfiger; Baseball legend, Lou Brock; President of Morehouse School of Medicine, Dr. Valerie Montgomery Rice; Chairman of Sunshine Holdings, Franklyn R. Wilson; President of PVH Foundation & Sr. VP of Global Community Relations, Guy Vickers and President and CEO of Carnival Corporation & PLC, Arnold W. Donald. This year’s show will be hosted by four-time Boxing World Champion, Laila Ali along with fitness guru and “The Biggest Loser” star Dolvett Quince.
The Trumpet Awards was established by founder and civil rights pioneer Xernona Clayton as a way to celebrate and honor African-American achievement. The recipients come from diverse backgrounds including law, medicine, business, politics, the arts, sports, entrepreneurship and entertainment.
The official after party (The Soulful Ending) includes an intimate performance by The Bar-Kays.
