Deadline is reporting that “Ride Along 2” actress Tika Sumpter has landed the role of a lifetime. “The Have and the Have Nots” vixen will play First Lady Michelle Obama in a new indie film based on her first date with the future President of the United States,  Barack Obama in 1992. The film is titled, “Southside With You” and is set to begin shooting in Chicago July 2015.

The way the story goes, Barack fell for then Michelle Robinson when the two first met at a Chicago law firm. He was a first-year Harvard Law student, who took a job as an associate and she was his much younger boss. After much convincing, Michelle took Barack up on his offer and the two visited the Art Institute, caught Spike Lee’s film, “Do the Right Thing” and shared a curbside kiss in front of Baskin-Robbins in Chicago’s Hyde Park.

The film is taken from Richard Tanne’s screenplay and will be produced by Tracey Bing and Stephanie Allain. So far, no one has been cast as Barack but the search is on to find the right actor.

“Stephanie and I are excited to produce this smart and timeless film that sheds light on one of the great love stories of our time,” said Tracey Bing. “Richard really captures the essence of that romantic connection between Barack and Michelle that is so evident in the way that they look at each other. We are looking forward to finding the perfect Barack.”

Stay tuned…
