Last year, we reported that America’s Got Talent host, Nick Cannon had signed on to host a reboot of Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous. The show was to air on the then Style Network. It is now being picked up by NBC.
According to THR, NBC has ordered a new pilot for the series with Cannon still in the hosting seat. Apparently, the show was not picked up by Esquire Network after they acquired the Style Network in October 2013.
NBC is also looking to take the show in a different direction than what Style had intended by focusing on “Cannon’s point of view and include fun profiles on ultra-wealthy individuals with vibrant personalities, hobbies and tastes.” The show will also focus on new tech billionaires and highlight their philanthropic efforts.
Lifestyle of the Rich and Famous aired in syndication from 1984 to 1995 and was hosted by Robin Leach. He always ended each show with the signature phrase, “champagne wishes and caviar dreams.”
