Another day, another celebrity scandal. This time it involves America’s favorite television dad, Bill Cosby. Apparently, Cosby was supposed to appear on The Queen Latifah Show but producers got “cold feet” after comments that were made last week by comedian Hannibal Buress accusing Cosby of raping 13 women.
“Bill Cosby has the f–king smuggest old black man public persona that I hate,” Buress said. “‘Pull your pants up, black people. I was on TV in the ’80s. I can talk down to you, because I had a successful sitcom.’ Yeah, but you raped women, Bill Cosby. So, brings you down a couple notches. I don’t curse on stage. But yeah, you’re a rapist.”
TMZ reported Thursday that the show canceled Cosby’s segment. However, a spokesperson for the daytime talky is saying otherwise.
“Mr. Cosby’s scheduled appearance on The Queen Latifah Show was postponed at his request and was in no way related to any of our recent or upcoming scheduled guests,” according to TheWrap.
Hannibal was referring to the 2006 situation where Andrea Constand, a former Temple University employee, accused Cosby of drugging her and sexually assaulted her in his Philadelphia-area mansion in 2004. 13 other witnesses also filed claims against the beloved actor and comedian. Cosby eventually settled out of court with Constand and was never charged for sexual assault.
