Fans of the late Whitney Houston will have a lil somethin to smile about this holiday season. The family of the multi-award winning singer and actress is releasing the first ever live album titled, Whitney Houston Live: Her Greatest Performances.
Clive Davis, Whitney’s close friend and musical mentor announced the big news Tuesday morning on The Today’s Show. “She was without question the greatest vocalist in the world,” stated Clive during the interview. “This is her legacy.”
Noticeably missing from the list are a few of my personal favorites including her performance of “Didn’t We Almost Have It All” during the 1987 MTV Video Music Awards and “Why Does It Hurt So Bad” during the 1996 MTV Movie Awards. Another major piece that is also missing is her “mini concert” at the 1988 Nelson Mandela 70th Birthday Tribute, where she sang, “I Wanna Dance with Somebody (Who Loves Me),” “So Emotional,” “Where Do Broken Hearts Go?” “How Will I Know” and a gospel medley with her mother, Cissy Houston. Check out the full tracklist for the CD and DVD below:
