Kelly Rowland wants to play Donna Summer in Spike Lee film, ‘Spinning Gold’

Singer, actress and mommy-to-be Kelly Rowland has her eyes on a movie role that we think is absolutely perfect for her. The “Kisses Down Low” vocalist is said to be campaigning for the part of Disco Queen, Donna Summer in Spike Lee’s upcoming 70’s film, Spinning Gold.

Rowland posted a photo of herself rocking Donna’s signature wig and wearing 70’s inspired make-up with the caption: “#tbt #DonnaSummer-ish #LovetoLoveYa”

Spinning Gold  chronicles the rise of music executive Neil Bogart, who founded Casablanca Records and helped launch the careers of music icons KISS, Joan Jett, The Village People and Donna Summer.

So far, Justin Timberlake has been cast in the role of Bogart.  Let’s hope Spike gets the “memo” and cast Miss Kelly in the film. She’s definitely got the look and the voice to really bring Donna’s extraordinary life to the big screen.

Stay tuned…
